Global CONNECT™: a network committed to growing new technology clusters worldwide

About Us

Global CONNECT™ is a university-based consultancy working with regions around the world on issues related to technology and innovation.  Our membership network links organizations committed to building international technology-based enterprises.

Following are examples of current projects (February 2010):

  • Innovation workshops for science park, academic, and government leaders, in China.
  • Assistance to developing life sciences clusters in Mexico, since 2007.
  • For the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, an evaluation (2006-2011) of 13 regions given grants through the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) program: evaluating the implementation and cumulative effects of WIRED strategies, including transformations in regional economic and workforce development systems.
  • Research focused on the social dynamics of innovation in three regions of the United States, funded by the US National Science Foundation (NSF).
  • Assistance to non-US companies seeking US market intelligence, investment, partners, etc. We have provided this service to agencies and companies from several countries, including CONNECT Taiwan since 2005, and to a UK consortium, the SETsquared Partnership, since 2006.
  • Assessment of the Warsaw, Indiana (US) orthopedics cluster, for BioCrossroads.
  • An analysis of the development of the biotech cluster in San Diego, to inform the development of such clusters in Australia; for the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.
  • Training in technology transfer and commercialization for Exploit Technologies, the commercialization arm of A*STAR, Singapore; and for the Korean Institute for the Advancement of Technology.
  • Data-gathering and analysis for the CONNECT Innovation Report.

In addition, our team is involved every week in hosting visitors to San Diego, in studying innovation policy and practice, participating in policy, industry, or academic events around the world, and in tracking a variety of technology application areas.
